The online art gallery Corbeau will display physical paintings at The Cloudveil Friday and Saturday, with over 30 pieces in "Unveiled," a limited group exhibition.
According to gallery owners Isabel McDowall and Chad Repinski, the selection of artists in the pop-up's group show is meant to "reflect the tenor of the season in Jackson Hole."
"Powerful late summer landscapes, insightful compositions challenging convention, and perhaps revelations brought about by so many months of sunshine and the call of the mountains with winter approaching," Repinksi said in an email about the work in "Unveiled."
"If people do in fact find clarity and perspective through their time here, this could be the show for you," he continued.
Repinski and McDowall broke new ground this past year with their digital gallery, and Repinski said engagement has been about as expected for this model.
"Building relationships with artists and establishing identity with clients have been foundational efforts where we feel Corbeau has overachieved," he wrote.
"Unveiled's" artists include Icelandic artist Heimir Björgúlfsson. Born in Reykjavik, he lives and works in Los Angeles. His surreal images spanning the imagined and the physical have been featured in The Los Angeles Times, The Guardian and The Houston Chronicle, as well as international publications. In 2024, he received the Homiens Art Prize.
Also in the show is an alum of the Ucross Foundation, Laura Guese. Guese is best known for her large-scale atmospheric paintings. Another artist, Kym Day, is an oil painter from Greenville, South Carolina, who specializes in "magical realism with a romanticized take on the American West."
In her artist statement, Day said, "My work serves as a connection to a place I left at a young age, shaped by daydreams and fantasy. Throughout childhood, I found solace in my daydreams and in literature, specifically in characters like Nancy Drew and Pippi Longstocking, whose adventures fed my fascination with mystery and myth. This fuels the sense of escapism and curiosity that remains central to my work today."
Other artists in "Unveiled" include Bruce Bainard, Drew Chistie, Scott Yeager and John Taft. Taft will "intermittently" be in attendance throughout the weekend.
Attendees to the physical space exhibit will enjoy artists who have never shown in Jackson Hole before and who may also fall into the price range for art collectors just starting out. Repinski said prices range from under $500 up to $13,000, and works will be rotated throughout the two-day sale.
The show will take place at the west end of the main lobby on the Center Street side of The Cloudveil.
