The title of this piece comes from a mutual experience between my closest brother and I. When we were in high school, there was a fire north of town. We went out to see the damage. As we were heading down a dirt road we saw a burnt out corral. All that was left standing were about 11 charred posts upon which were nine ravens all facing the setting sun and all in the same exact pose. The ground was still smoldering and smoke was slowly filling the scene. We were both speechless as it was the most surreal setting either of us had ever seen. We still bring it up from time to time.
