An early autumn moonrise as the sun sets. Magical colors develop. At this time the only thing on a bull elks mind are cow elk..until another rival bull bugles in the distance and captures his attention. A decision is being made, herd the ladies away or meet the challenger and battle it out. Its a timeless scene played out countless times in elk country over centuries. I never tire of being an observer.
