In this painting, I attempt to dissolve the conventional distinction between painting and drawing, testing and extending the formal limits of each medium on the surface of the canvas. Through this material investigation, I pose questions around displacement: the forced migration of species as a consequence of global commerce, territorial expansion, and human-engineered environmental transformation. While some species struggle to survive the velocity of change, others adapt and proliferate. I am interested in the uncertain thresholds that determine endurance, dominance, and extinction.
